Neglect and ruin

Luke 6:49  But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, immediately it fell, and great was the ruin of that house.

I suspect building a foundation on a pier is not the easiest thing in the world.  Contributing to this building’s ruin would also be neglect, not many people live in this area anymore.  Britania Beach is a community left to survive on tourism as a result of the closure of the mine, which in some ways is a blessing.  At its height the effluent was some of the most toxic in North America.  This little bit of ruin did make for a interesting picture on the day we traveled through to Whistler.

It was a lovely day.  I feel a connection to old buildings.  I wonder about history, who lived, or worked, or visited there.  What stories might sleep within the walls.
